 <note>This book is addressed to non-Japanese who want to understand the Japanese business insiderÂ’s point of view by focusing on business behavior in the large Japanese corporation. In this book you will experience Japanese business life by looking over the shoulder of a salaryman. The author supplemented his experiences and researches by conducting over fifty interview with salarymen from a wide variety of firms and industries. This book also includes aspects of behavior that often confuse Westerners, illustrating these puzzles, then describing from the salarymanÂ’s point of view what accounts for the conundrum Westerners perceive. Inside the Kaisha describes the shaping process and its consequences in chapter 1 through a composite illustration that captures the Â“coming of ageÂ” experiences shared by the salarymen. In chapter 2, this book describes four guideposts that can help you explain perplexing Japanese business behavior by introducing the critical idea of context, examining how Japanese learn appropriate behavior, exploring the fundamental motivation of most Japanese, explaining why to the Japanese the right process is more important than the right outcome. In the next chapters, this book focuses on a particular type of puzzle that often misleads outsiders and causes them to view Japanese behavior as inconsistent and unpredictable.</note>
