Advanced SearchTechnology and management in library and informati
This book deals with the logical intersection of technology and management in the context of libraries and other information centers. While the major thrust is the management of technology, the reverse relationship – the use of computer and related technologies to facilitate or improve management – is also covered. The text is likely to have greatest relevance to the managers of large libraries or library systems, particularly those in academic arena. Much of the discussion should also be of interest to librarians in management position in smaller institutions. The major issues examined in this book reflect the rather fundamental changes in library operations and services that are being brought about by technology. The book also included references to sources of further information for those readers who wish to pursue a topic in more detail. The book is intended primarily for use by managers of library and related information services. However, it could serve as a text for a course in graduate schools of library and information science since it is the management of technology.
