The existence and development of sharia banking in Indonesia is a reflection of the need for alternative banking system which can contribute to stability of national financial system. With its impressive growth rate, sharia banking industry has even extended its influence to other sharia financial sectors such as insurance, bond, mutual fund, finance company and capital market.
The 2006 edition of the Blueprint put forth the position of the way Bank Indonesia develops sharia banking in Indonesia and functions as guidance for sharia banking stakeholders. Blueprint also reiterates the philosophy and achievements strategy as defined under Vision, Mision, and initiatives that will be implemented in the next 10 years through 2015.
