Dian Desa Founda- tion designed and implemented efficient technologies to enable people in rural ar- eas/villages solve their own problems and improve their lives. The monetary crisis had a big impact on lives of millions of Indonesian people. Be- tween 1996 and 2001, amount of Indone- sians living under the line of poverty in- creased from the already-high of 22.5 mil- lions or 17% of the total population to about 45 million people or about 25 % of total of Indonesian population in 2001. Decreasing foreign aid provided a morechallenge to organizations in Indonesia to defend themselves and that also had impacts on various social issues. The problem was, could Dian Desa continue their activities to achieve their visions and mission with limited spon- sor?
