What your firm can learn from coworking spaces

The article looks at coworking spaces, or shared office spaces used by
people who are remote employees or self-employed and operated on a
membership basis. It says surveys have indicated a high level of
satisfaction among people working in coworking spaces. The authors
discuss the results of their interviews and surveys on the experiences
of coworking space users, saying the benefits fell into three
categories: meaningfulness of work, autonomy and control over one's job,
and community and a sense of belonging. They discuss how corporations
can apply insights from their research to provide in-house employees
with more meaning, autonomy, and community in their work. The Coworking
Manifesto document and coworking space organizations including Grind,
Co-Merge, and NextSpace are cited.
