Gazing at nature makes you more productive

An
interview is presented with environmental psychologist Kate Lee,
focusing on her research on the mental impact of looking at images of
nature during brief work breaks, or microbreaks. It outlines the study
carried
out by Lee and her colleagues: the subjects had a simple task to
complete on a computer, in the middle of which they had a brief break
and were shown either a concrete roof or a roof covered with green
plants and flowers on their computer screens. The sustained
attention to response task (SART) performance measure was used. Topics
include attention control and whether the research would apply to more
complicated tasks.
