How private equity firms hire CEO'S

The article discusses an unpublished study by Jeffrey Cohn and J. P.
Flaum on how private equity firms select the chief executive officers
(CEOs) of their portfolio companies, based on their interviews with
managing partners at numerous private equity firms. It notes the
interviewees cited ability to build high-performing executive teams,
willingness to make hard decisions, and candor as more important hiring
criteria than prior CEO or industry experience.
