Fuzzy Continuous Review IventoryModel using ABC Multi-Criteria Classification Approach : A Single Case Study

Inventory is connsidered as the mmost expensive, yet important, to any companies. IIt represents appproximately 50%% of the total investment. Inventory cost hhas become one oof the major conttributors to ineffffit should be maanaged effectively . This study rniciency, therefore aims to propopose an alternattive inventory moddel, by using ABBC multi-criteriaa classification appproach to minimmize total cost. ByBy combining FANP (FFuzzy Analytical Network Proccess) and TOPSIIS (Technique ofof Order Preferennces by Similarityty to the Ideal SSolution), the ABC multti-criteria classificcation approach identified 12 itemms of 69 inventoory items as “outstanding importaant class” that coontributed to 80% total inventory cost. TThis finding is tthen used as the basis to determinne the proposed ccontinuous revieww inventory modeel. This study found that by using fuzzy trapezoidal cost, the inventory tuurnover ratio can be increased, annd inventory cost can be decreased by 78% for each item inn “class A” inveentory. rn
