Designing a high-performance organization

A high performance organization is one that has been intentionally created to generate and function on very high levels of employee commitment, and as a consequence, is able to attain superior business results, adapt effectively to change, and provide employees with a rich quality of work life. This book presents a method for designing high-performance organizations called the whole-systems approach. The whole system approach described in this book ensures a clear focus on :
- Designing objectives that include a good quality of work life for employees
- The pivotal role of people in the organization, both individually and collectively, and the manner in which they impact the effectiveness of the work processes and technology.
- The need for a design process that ensures that the requirements of the people are considered along with the needs of the business and the work processes.
- The need for the involvement of people at all levels in the design process to create the best possible design and ensure its successful implementation.
There are three major topics focused by this book, such as organization analysis, design, and implementation. The first set of chapters deals with the analysis of the business environment, the work processes and technology, and the people or social system. The second group of chapters focuses on the design of the new organization; the last chapter addresses the development of an implementation plan.
