A Strategy for corporate innovation

The importance of TQC (Total Quality Control) in mass-production manufacturing has been demonstrated frequently and emphatically. TQC emphasizes an approach called “market-in” which stresses the importance of remembering the consumer in all aspects of business. In A Strategy for Corporate Innovation, Shirou Fujita provides an informative and stimulating description of how TQC was applied in NTT DATA CORPORATION, the largest software-systems development company in Japan. In 1991 NTT DATA CORPORATION began introducing TQC into its operation. Its goals were to create systems that are truly satisfying to its customer and to develop attractive products that reveal creativity, foresight, and a sense of human touch. Only two and a half years after the introduction of TQC, NTT DATA CORPORATION received the Deming Prize. The key success factor of the implementation of TQC lies largely within its employees. In this book, Fujita vividly describes how he employed TQC to achieve “corporate innovation” by in calculating a common objective among all employees to meet market needs and to instill quality in their work.
